Suzuki Method
The Suzuki Method teaches children of all ages to hear and play music from simple folk songs to complex classical music. These students can begin lessons as young as four years old. The method trains children to memorize their music and become comfortable and confident performers. Recordings of the student’s music needs to be heard daily to help surround him/her with the new language of music. Reading music begins once a beautiful tone and refined technique are established. It is imperative to the Suzuki Method that a parent (or responsible guardian) attend all lessons, take notes, and help the student practice at home.
“Everyone has a sprout of talent. Developing that sprout into a wonderful ability depends on how
it is cultivated.” - S. Suzuki
Traditional Method
The traditional method utilizes age appropriate method books introducing music theory, lessons in reading, children’s songs, duets, scales, jazz, pop music, classical music, and technique. Parents are not required to attend lessons but are always encouraged to do so.
